Not Content but Content like made up of Stories
First a few words about content. Specifically content I like. This is not in any order, just the way it tumbled out like tennis balls off of a closet shelf. I like independent and foreign films, rarely a wide release formula flick. Dumbing things down just seems like dumbing things down. Apparently any campaign to try to get the audience to rise instead has fallen on deaf ears. Some suggest that it involves revenues but I can't imagine that could be true.
Love Netflix streaming. Altho I recommend approaching it as a discovery platform rather than a search library. Search often results in disappointment, whereas recommendation and discovery yields joy. Dunno why I'm so into UK content. Maybe it's genetic and I still have South Hampton dandruff on my DNA strands.
TCM is pretty much my go-to channel altho there is a smattering of originals on various cablettes that have my affections. I cannot count reality television as one of my guilty pleasures. If I'm going to feel guilty about something it's not going to be over the inane. Let it be ice cream.
I don't think it's elitist to prefer a well crafted documentary to 44 minutes of programming interrupted by 7 minutes of recaps, 6 minutes of teases, and 4-5 messages from sponsors. Once again here the super paranoid proffer the notion that economics is the evil, underlying cause of low cost, low brow, content. Could be simpler than that. May be the 9 year olds in charge of the network creative with qualifying degrees like law or international studies.
I prefer Vimeo to Youtube, Spotify to ITunes radio, Flipboard to the Yahoo homepage and DesignMilk to People.com.
I don't find the wealth of available content to be daunting. I like choice. And I choose the best I can find. Similar I suppose to the Italian's belief that it is their birthright to have the highest quality ingredients for their meals. You have to admit they do seem to have a large following in the culinary areas.
It is that very desire for the best quality storytelling that has fueled the launch of Untired. I believe that there are other like minded types who have little precious time to waste on something other than the extraordinary.
** And now a sidebar into my well cared for pet notion:
I admit it. I like positive. I like happy. I look at my media consumption as diet. Like you are what you eat. One of the reasons for my aversion to most reality shows is the underlying "B story" that is of humiliation or denigration. The train wreck of humans behaving badly. I just don't dig it. I like triumph and people behaving extraordinarily well. I generally avoid tough movies...because they are tough. I like to escape to poetic acts of kindness and sweet, simple stories of relationships that endure.
I love those that overcome. We all have what we were dealt. It's our choice to view our lot as opportunity or misfortune...to either be victims or culprits of fulfillment. I've never met anyone who had it easy. If you dig deep and listen to their personal story you will find challenges and obstacles.
It is the mission of Untired to present the authentic. I don't want the perfectly styled, teeth whitened persona on the national book tour talking about their perfect lives. Because that is the antithesis of authentic. I want to be able to relate. Struggle I'm hip to. Doubt I have in spades. If I was a cocktail I would be 2 parts confidence and a heavy pour of self loathing...shaken well!
It is that conundrum I find fascinating and the human spirit exhilarating.

This is the banner that will hang over the entrance to our exhibition grounds. Within you will find entertaining, compelling, relevant, humorous, and inspiring stories using all mediums. And I hope, ice cream.
I know the content will be amazing...with stories you just can't make up.
Because you are content.
